Day 7 Fri 6th

Woke up early today to head for mount fuji.the journey took 2 hrs plus.we had to take the jr line to otsuki and then switch to another train to get to kawaguchi-ko,near mount fuji.while the train is approaching kawaguchi-ko,you can catch some magnificent views of fuji-san.

We bought a ticket there that allows you to take the sight seeing bus and we dropped halfway to take the ropeway car aka cable car.

We managed to see fuji-san in its full glory.luckily, the clouds parted for us

The leaves at kawaguchi-ko were withering into a beautiful autumn hue.there're lots of fuji-san related stuff on sale there.i also tried horse meat for the 1st time.it started to turn really chilly in the evening

We stayed till 5+ before leaving because it was turning dark and made our way back to the city.if only the days would last longer.

later on at night,we went to harajuku but it was deserted,so we went to shibuya.there were so many people at shibuya that it was quite hard to get around.on our way back to the hotel, the trains were packed and we only managed to get on the 2nd train that came by squeezing in with the locals.

We headed to harajuku and i had a icecream crepe.there're lots at harajuku.also lots of young girls carrying luggage bags with their cosplay costumes around

After that,we headed to kazuki ramen at ebisu for lunch.the ppl there are very friendly,if you dun know japanese, they get someone to explain the menu.its a very busy place, with a stream of neverending customers.

We visited shibuya for shopping next.its a very crowded place with lots of people.you can find some good bargains there.

We headed back to the hotel before heading out at night to tokyo bay.at tokyo bay, there's the rainbow bridge, and fuji tv station.there's also a replica of the statue of liberty there.from tokyo bay.tokyo tower can be seen clearly.very good place for night photography

Day 4 Tue3rd

We reached tokyo on the shinkansen and transferred to the jr line to reach shinjuku.shinjuku is on the yamanote line and its a very busy line.after following directions given online,we managed to find our hotel in shinjuku.

Because we reached shinjuku at 3+,all of the restaurants were closed and would not open till dinner.we opted for kfc and then walked around shinjuku.

Dinner was fuku fish.we had no idea how to eat it but luckily a cute english speaking waiteress showed us how to.the fuku sashimi was very delicious

After dinner,we went to shinjuku kabuki cho,the famous redlight district.lots of chinese speaking "tour guides" there.we also met a singaporean as well.

Pretty sad a singaporean has too come to japan to work in this line

On the way to Tokyo                               My Tix being checked                  Durians are so ex here!

Sadly, today was a rainy day.luckily,we managed to visit kinkakuji temple.we took the shinkansen to kyoto station and got onto 205 at line A3.

There were a lot of people at kinkakuji.tourists, japanese,it was very very crowded and its easy to see why.the view is extremely beautiful abd everyone wanted to take a pic there.

After kinkakuji,we somehow missed our busstop so we decided to drop at nijo castle.its a very big castle showcasing the history of japan.

I bought some kyoto grapes and the taste was amazing.tasted like champagne.not cheap though

Tomorrow,we head to tokyo

Day 2 Sun1st

Today,i went to osaka castle and osaka aquarium.the japan railway and subway network are not as complicated as i thought.

Osaka castle was magnificent.very majestic.its actually a replica of the real 1 at himeji though,so the interior is a museum

After visiting the castle,it started to rain.we took a boat ride for a cruise around osaka for 1700 yen

It continued to rain as we made our way to osaka aquarium.we spent 3 hours+ in the aquarium.it was huge!they actually have a few whale sharks in the aquarium.very big and lots of things to see.the jellyfish were amazing

After that,we had sushi nearby for dinner since it was raining and then made our way back to shin osaka.

Tomorrow,we're going to kyoto.im really looking forward to that.please dont rain

Day 1 Sat31

Today is my 1st day in japan.the trains in japan are extremely punctual.we got from the airport to tokyo without any problems.however,we missed the train from tokyo to shin osaka by bout 1 min at most but the train was already gone.

We had to rebook our tix with the jr pass.luckily the next train was only 20 mins away

Finally got to osaka after a 3hr ride on the hikari train.we checked in to our hotel and i applied for a membership card to get 30% off our rooms.its 1500yen for lifetime membership.quite worth it huh?

The room's quite cosy but a bit small.facilities are excellent though.

We went for a walk around the area.lots of "girls" in the streets near our area.they generally leave u alone.the guys are all dressed in suits, like some high class red light district.the girls here are, well, lets just say you shouldnt come to japan with your girlfriend haha

The Bay Vs The Bag

  • Sep. 6th, 2009 at 9:43 PM

Plastic bags pollute our waters, smother wetlands and entangle and kill animals. In fact, approximately one million plastic bags pollute San Francisco Bay each year. Trash in the Bay flows into the ocean to join the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a floating island of trash estimated at twice the size of Texas where plastic particles are more abundant than plankton

Peter Chao haha

  • Sep. 6th, 2009 at 1:48 PM

Peter Chao gives his views on Bullied Sg man!

On a channel 8 show where passengers were interviewed on what they think about the no eating/drinking rule on train imposed by SMRT,most ppl felt that it was pretty harsh. But the station staff came up with a brillant idea!If passengers need to eat or drink, please get off the train and approach the station staff to go to the the staff room to eat or drink.

Wow!!
Does that mean i can go to their staff room and eat my macdonalds if i cant find a seat
How bout a bbq there?

hmm maybe can organise an outing there to eat then

Nice move SMRT

I had a dream

  • Sep. 3rd, 2009 at 8:28 AM

I had a dream i nearly forgot
But thanks to my Travelbuddy fren from UK, Karen  who said this to me

"Thanks Ronald :-) on this site I feel like a complete newbie traveller, there are some real pros on here. I am learning though... Any plans to see any of the seven wonders yet?"

I suddenly remember that i had previously proclaimed that i would visit the seven wonders of the world

The New Seven wonders of the world(Thanks Geri!)
Great Wall of China 5th century BCE – 16th century CE China
Petra c.100 BCE Jordan
Christ the Redeemer Opened 12 October 1931 Brazil
Machu Picchu c.1450 Peru
Chichen Itza c.600 Mexico
Roman Colosseum Completed 80 CE Italy
Taj Mahal Completed c.1648 India
Great Pyramid (Honorary Candidate) Completed c.2560 BCE Egypt

so,i've decided to start working towards my dream and proceed to Giza next year to visit the Pyramids!
Thanks Karen!

Nostalgic

  • Aug. 7th, 2009 at 10:03 PM

While flipping through my old photo albums,i found my New Zealand album haha
I think i was only 14 or 15 then
But i remember the place very well coz it was really beautiful

Beautiful mountains everywhere

Look at the sheep running around!!

Ha i remember this!
This is damn fun, though your legs will wobble after this
There's a reason why its called helijet

My most vivid memory of New Zealand was when we took a chopper and landed on Mt Cook
The moment we stepped out of the chopper,we sand knee deep into the snow
That was my 1st experience with snow
We made snow balls and threw them around haha

I wanna go back again...

DRSS(Doggie Rescue Shelter)

  • Jul. 28th, 2009 at 9:12 PM

Was approached by some volunteers to help shoot some dogs at DRSS.Place is quite far,in Pasir Ris but since its for a good deed,oh well.
The place is actually run by 2 sisters and there bout 20+ 30 dogs? Each in their own kennels.Must be very hard work to take care of so many dogs, and they have real jobs too!

We got there at bout 9 in the morning and started bathing the dogs. The dogs there are very friendly though they look a bit intimidating because they're pretty big dogs.

There were some timid dogs though. The caretaker explained to us that because they have very little human interaction, some dogs get frightened when they see so many people. There were bout 14 of us

This is Troy.I remember his name so well coz he goes pissing everywhere haha.
Troy is a homegrown dog and he can play fetch and all that. But his owner conveniently left him outside near the shelter.....

1 of the timid dogs.He likes to hide at a corner and refuses to come out of the kennel.poor thing

DRSS needs volunteers all the time.Even if you don't know how to bath the dogs,It would be good to go play with them too,to get them used to people around them
Here's the webby->>http://drssg.com/
More pics here->>DRSS
If you would like to volunteer, you can contact the owners and let them know
